A public claim on a category its operator left unclaimed. Not financial — reputational. XXX is a size. Big is a market. And this is what it looks like when a private entity fills the seat that a quasi-public registrar refused to occupy.
The .xxx top-level domain was introduced in 2011 under ICM Registry. Its stated purpose was to provide a voluntary, category-specific namespace with higher operator standards — age-appropriate routing, controlled reputation, and a predictable commercial surface for an industry that has repeatedly produced the internet's earliest and most durable revenue. Its actual trajectory has been different.
Industry observation places the share of category websites operating on .com at approximately 95%. The combined share of .xxx, .adult, .porn, and .sex amounts to a low single-digit slice of the category. This is not for lack of availability. The category was already built on .com before the category-specific TLDs existed, .com remains cheaper and better-supported by mainstream infrastructure, and the registries purpose-built for the category have produced no material differentiation on behalf of their stakeholders since launch.
Ownership of those category-specific TLDs passed quietly. ICM Registry was acquired by MMX (Minds + Machines Group) in 2018. In 2021–2022, MMX's registry portfolio — including .xxx, .adult, .porn, and .sex — was acquired by GoDaddy Registry, which holds the category today. Which brand name the operator uses for category-level communication — "ICM Registry," "GoDaddy Registry," or something else entirely — is itself obscure from public disclosure. No operator stewardship report and no public framework describing category-level responsibility has been issued under the current ownership.
Over the past several months, url.ventures has privately communicated category-specific suggestions to the operator — around transparency of pricing, standards of transfer, and the basic mechanics of registry-level accountability. The communications have been acknowledged only procedurally. No substantive response has been offered. No operator report has been issued. No legislation has been proposed, at the federal or state level, that would require one. The category continues to be governed, in effect, by the absence of governance.
The top adult-category sites, measured by any reasonable proxy — traffic, revenue, commercial listings — are operating on .com. Category-specific TLDs account for a low single-digit share by any public measure.
ICM Registry's portfolio — .xxx and sibling TLDs — has been held within GoDaddy Registry since the 2021–2022 MMX acquisition. Which brand name the operator uses for category communication is obscure from public disclosure. No stewardship framework has been issued under the current ownership.
No federal or state legislation has emerged to address registry-level accountability in this category. No operator stewardship report has been published. Outreach from url.ventures has been acknowledged procedurally, not substantively.
xxxregistry.com becomes either (a) a forward-looking rebrand demonstrating what intelligent digital-asset incubation looks like inside a controlled category, or (b) a standing public record of negligence-by-omission in the leadership of the digital-asset space.
xxxregistry.com does not host content, operate platforms, or transact anything itself. It is a held observation — maintained publicly, updated when the facts change, and available for eventual repositioning once the underlying situation clarifies.
The Scientific Method. xxxregistry.com is one artifact in a broader investigation. SizeBrands — the incubation layer alongside url.ventures — has stewarded thousands of domain-market observations in parallel, testing whether observed behavior at category operators is best explained by stupidity, by greed, by malfeasance, or by some combination of the three. The finding across the set has been consistent: this market does not fail the way rational markets in comparably lucrative categories fail. It fails in ways that only make sense if the incumbent operator class has been extracting under cover for a very long time. xxxregistry.com is one cute little seashell on a beach where nothing has been done to protect, nothing has been done to improve, nothing has been done at all.
The Asymmetry. url.ventures is a small, shoestring-funded firm with the digital leverage to move mountains. With this single asset, url.ventures can do more than a multi–ten-billion-dollar company has done in decades. It is up to the public to determine whether url.ventures is smart, whether ICM Registry and GoDaddy and the others are up to something, or whether the truth is some mixture of the two. The only fact that is unequivocally true is this: url.ventures owns xxxregistry.com, and will either turn it into something that makes money and creates jobs, or will use it to display the lack of care, the lack of leadership, and the stupidity of GoDaddy, ICM Registry, and everyone else who thought it was a good idea to do what they did — and who still won't claim it.

Do you hear the way they talk to me /
Do you see the recipe of destruction?

MF Domain is the musical imprint of the url.ventures constellation — an artistic register for arguments that resist spreadsheet-only expression. Where the portfolio stack argues its thesis with data, MF Domain argues it with voice, beat, and image.
The two registers are not redundant. They are complementary. A reputational lien is a claim; a B-side is the texture of what gave rise to it. The imprint that signs the first can sign the second, and the song is simply louder about it.
Web Jungle is Track 02. Action Hero — Track 01 — is forthcoming. Future releases will accompany future url.ventures observations. All original. All cleared. All part of the same record.
